Must reads for the hula hoop and yoga lover
1. The Hoop & The Tree recommended by Jocelyn Gordon, Creator of HoopYogini™
“This book was given to me almost seven years ago. It was a birthday gift from a lovely women who said she felt strongly that I must have it in my library. The gesture truly affected my life as the insight within encouraged me to meditation on, create and develop the HoopYogini™ curriculum. This book illuminates the cross cultural symbolism of the hoop – relationship with tribe and community – and the tree – relationship with Self and Spirit – and provides a pathway towards wholeness.” Jocelyn
2. you are here by Thich Nhat Hanh recommended by Tamsin Marley, UK, HoopYogini™ Certified Instructor
“I read this during my preparation to becoming a HoopYogini™ instructor. The simplicity of this book made it a perfect study of mindfulness. A wonderful book.” Tamsin
“The focus on this book is the pelvic bowl and how for a woman that is the space that nurtures, drives and births creative energies/projects (along with so much more). As we yoginis know, the solar plexus is our power center. The pelvic bowl (sacral chakra) is a bit lower, but I resonate with this being one of my power centers also. When we clear blockages/negative energies, we can live in a more full and authentic way. One of the things I always talk about in my yoga/HoopYogini™ classes is that our energy and our breath radiates from that space. We can also hone in and draw energy inwards back into that space when necessary – particularly during our bleeding cycle. It’s a fascinating read! Rachael-Grace
“This book is the perfect resource for developing your own holistic personal yoga practice.” Rebecca
“Yes this 25 year old book, I just read this year at my Sistah’s book club that I created just last year. I like it because it explained how the universe will give you what you want and it wants to do it! You have to pay attention to the blueprint made for your own personal journey. The way the book impacted my life is, it led me to HoopYogini™. I was following the clues of my journey’s blueprint. The day HoopYogini wanted to be in my life is the day that butterflies were landing on me the entire afternoon. If you were to read the book you know what I mean.” Venetria
