Wake Up Practice

Sep 05, 2019

How do you start your day?

Do you roll over and check your phone then hop up and prepare coffee as you run through the list of to dos for the day?

As a mompreneur, I cherish the first rising moments as the opportunity to review my dreams, become aware of my first thoughts and insights and to prepare my mindset for a fluid and effective day.

I know first hand how important it is to activate the day with mindfulness, meditation and conscious movement and so I’ve charted a simple and nourishing wake-up ritual that you can begin to implement in your life.

The practice starts in bed, transitions you to an upright spine and then connects you with your heart before you stand up and begin your day.

This is a great way to center and calm and bring gentle movement to your body.

I hope you like it. Comment below on how it makes you feel.

To increase the benefits of your practice, allow the hoop to become your assistant for wakefulness, centering and calm. Start your day with the HoopYogini Spinal Awakening Series, a standing six posture flow with the hoop that takes your spine through it’s full range of motion as you center your mind and strengthen your core. This HoopYogini vinyasa is included in the Foundations & Flow Course.

You can get it here.

Great Morning Wakefulness Practice:

As you come into wakefulness give thanks for another moment, another day of life.

Sit on the side of your bed and as you place your feet on the earth, give thanks to your feet, your legs, your body for being your vehicle of consciousness in this life.

Sit in stillness with a focus on your breath. Feel the breath flow in and out, up and down. Give thanks for breath, the breath of life.

While seated or standing, activate your spine by stretching side to side, followed by seated cat cow movements and a seated twist. Give thanks to your brain and spine – the central nervous system and HQ for all your body systems and physiological processes.

Bring your hands to your heart. Connect with a prayer, wish or intention. Then, inhale as you offer it up, exhale as you fold forward to touch the earth. Plant that seed of intention into the fertile soil of this great life mystery.

Carry on with your day, returning to presence in a similar fashion as you journey with life as the ultimate movement meditation.

It is so! Aho Ase Amen đź™Ź
