10 Ways To Find Your Flow In Your Hoop

Uncategorized Sep 05, 2019

Are you feeling stuck in the same old flow?

We get it. Sometimes you find yourself doing the same tricks over and over again and it can feel like your flow is stuck in a continuous hoop-loop! No worries, it happens to even the most experienced hoopers. Luckily, we found the 10 best ways to get out of “groundhog day” Hooping and into an inspired flow!

Here’s how we at HoopYogini™ recommend you get your groove back.

Find Your Flow

1. Cut the Music

I’m certain that you have the BEST taste in music, no doubt! But sometimes your awesome music might be distracting you from dropping into a state of flow. Take a moment to just BE with your hoop in silence.

2. Change Directions

Give the hoop a spin in your opposite current and see what happens. Hooping in your opposite current might give you a new perspective. It will certainly challenge your coordination, and therefore get you “out of the head and...

HoopYogini™ Instructor Spotlight: Erin Wood

We Celebrate Erin Wood as she Continues her Journey of Personal Growth by Becoming a HoopYogini™ Instructor

How did you discover hooping?

I discovered hooping through my dear friend Cadence Feeley, an amazing hooper and even more amazing photographer. I was swooning the first time I saw her hoop photos and videos. Shortly after that I saw a few images she posted from a photo shoot with Jocelyn Gordon, founder of HoopYogini™. The radiance and beauty conveyed through the photos had me hooked. I picked up my first adult hoop roughly 7 years ago fully inspired by the grace of so many hoopers who came before me.

What do you love about hooping and what has it meant for you?

I love hooping as a form of self expression. I love that my hoop is my dance partner (I now feel naked out on the dance floor without a hoop). Hooping puts me in a meditative state, focusing fully on the music and the...

Natalie Marsh brings her love of teaching to her path as HoopYogini™ Instructor to get people moving, smiling, and learning.

How did you discover hooping?

I rediscovered Hooping through a friend that was holding classes. I used to hoop a lot as a child and I had loved it. I had tried with my daughter’s hoops but I couldn’t do it. Because of that, I thought it was something that I had lost the ability to do as an adult. How wrong I was! It is such a great physical activity and I was excited to start!

What do you love about hooping and what has it meant for you?

I love so much about hooping. It is such a fun activity to get fit and there are so many challenges every time I pick up the hoop. There is always something to learn and you can feel your body getting stronger and fitter. I love my hoops as they grant me a passage of expression and some time to myself to feel calm and relaxed.

HoopYogini™ Instructor Spotlight: Anita Filbeck

Uncategorized Sep 05, 2019

For Anita Filbeck, of Radiance Hooping, the hoop has been her lifeline to her soul and in this interview she speaks on the transformation that her HoopYogini™ practice has shown her.

How did you discover hooping? I went to a weekend womens event and met Ariana Shelton and her daughter from Hooping Harmony. Like most women who come across a hula hoop I thought, “I haven’t hooped since a was a kid, I cant do that!” It was ironic that I automatically went into the “I can’t” mode. Well, not only was I able to keep the hoop up but I immediately felt the mind, body, spirit connection and was guided to share this modality with other women. I became certified as a Radiant You Hoop Instructor in September of 2014 and opened my business in November of 2014.

What do you love about hooping and what has it meant for you? I love how the hoop melts into my body. Whether I...

How did you discover hooping?

A couple of friends of mine began hooping several years ago and watching their flow always left me in awe. I hooped off and on during that time but wasn’t blessed with the coordination to sync it all together into a dance and I felt awkward and clumsy. I discovered Jocelyn Gordon while learning about Hoop Camp. I was getting ready to start my 200 hour yoga teacher training and I saw HoopYogini™ integrating hula hooping with hatha yoga! That’s it. All I had to do was read the article title and I was sold. I signed up for a couple free videos and went through the practice and fell in love. Fast forward 2 years and here I am, certified to teach this beautiful, healing modality.

8 Surprising Things That Can Happen When You Start Hula Hooping

HoopYogini™ Teachers and practitioners share some fun, therapeutic and sexy possibilities that await you when you enter the hoop.

1. Spontaneous Laughter – Lori Jacobsen, HoopYogini™ Master Trainer

2. Pain Relief

“I firmly believe in the pain relief assistance hooping brings. I suffer every day and find big relief in the movement of the spine etc. Even from a sitting position. I work with seniors off and on, and I always hear how much better they slept and how much easier their joints move when they are consistent with movement, using the hoop for that little bit of resistance. Not just seniors of course! My classes are full and those ladies all have the same thing to say!” – Jennyfer Rowe

3. Getting Turned On

“I LOVE getting lost in flow. Feeling the beat of my favorite music pulse through me, effortlessly inspiring my next movement. The hoop massaging my body...

Continuing Education for Hoopers by Heather Says

Uncategorized Sep 05, 2019
When I first began hooping, it was all I could think of. I spent numerous hours watching every video tutorial I could find and searching for classes in an attempt to learn it all. But the learning never ceases. Everyday someone is combining new moves, creating new moves, and using their creativity to invent ways to use the hoop that I never could have dreamed of.

After I began teaching hoop dance several years ago, I initially thought, “Hey, I’m done!”  I knew my focus would change to helping my students become the best hoopers they could be. But, I was far from learning everything about the hoop that there was. And when you’re an instructor – your students depend on you to be all knowing about the subject. That’s such a wonderful gift, because even if you’re not keen on double hoops, breaks and paddles, etc., you know you have a responsibility to learn.

While I had taken many,...

Little did I know my life needed more change, as a pair of butterflies landed on me all day at the park. Later I took this as a totem, a sign from the universe. I met Isamar in the park that same day. She explained to me, why she had ALL THOSE hula hoops and how HoopYogini™ enhanced her life. Our conversation lead me to taking a class that next week. To my surprise, Jocelyn happened to be teaching that class. In class, I manifested a way for me to take the next HoopYogini Teacher Training that was starting in Virginia that next week…and there you have it! How I reinvented my life with HoopYogini™.
